Spain’s catching sector must take responsibility for reversing the current slump in the consumption of traditional species, said Javier Garat, secretary general of the Spanish Fisheries Confederation (CEPESCA), an organization representing the country’s commercial fishing industry.
CEPESCA will launch a joint campaign in September with Spain’s Association of Market Traders (ANAPE) and the Regulation and Organization Fund for the Fish and Marine Cultures Market (FROM) to inform and educate consumers about the benefits of locally caught fish compared to pangasius and other farmed imports.
