Cermaq is not overly concerned it is owed huge sums for feed delivered to Chilean salmon farming companies owned by bankruptcy-threatened Spanish conglomerate Pescanova.
Pescanova owns, through the Chilean subsidiary Pesca Chile, the salmon production companies Acuinova and Nova Austral. In Spain, Pescanova is currently battling to ward off bankruptcy caused by massive debt that has been allegedly partially concealed.
Tore Valderhaug, CFO at Cermaq, said the situation in Spain has no direct consequence for Acuinova and Nova Austral, which have major sums of money outstanding with their biggest feed supplier, EWOS.
