A large proportion of Scotland's west coast catch is exported to Spain, but the banking crisis there is causing problems for Spanish buyers.
Consumer demand appears to be healthy but buyers are experiencing serious difficulty in obtaining their usual credit lines from the struggling Spanish banks.
This is affecting demand for both the important live whole nephrop trade on the west coast and the smaller processors in the region, who in turn are unable to buy their usual quantities from the boats.
