After being fully removed and cleaned, pollock entrails are mixed with salt and served as a side dish in South Korea, where they are thought to help stimulate appetites. Catfish intestines are similar to pollock entrails in appearance, but are much cheaper.
The Korea Food and Drug Administration said it ordered a recall of the fake products imported from China last week after finding they were made from cheaper catfish intestines.
The products were made by the Chinese company Yantai Zhaoyang Aquatic Products Co.,
