South Africa is three years into a decade-long management program designed to boost hake catches, and members of the new alliance told IntraFish the initiative would benefit the long term strategy.
“It’s certainly one of things that we hope the alliance will be able to help co-ordinate, and is certainly one of the motivations,” said Sustainable Fisheries Manager Samantha Petersen of World Wildlife Fund (WWF), a member of the RFA.
