Seafood giant Red Chamber is in the process of acquiring Contessa Premium Foods, just days after Contessa ceased operations and fired all of its 54 employees at its Pittsburgh headquarters and Commerce, California, production plant, sources told IntraFish.
None of the details for the deal were made available, but an industry expert said documents were being drawn up for the sale.
"It's a done deal," the source, who wished to remain anonymous, said.
Others confirmed Red Chambers involvement in acquiring Contessa, saying "it's the company's MO to buy companies on their way out."
