SOTA says it reached out to the author in an effort to provide CNN with accurate information on the salmon industry, but was unsuccessful in its request.
The trade association says the article incorrectly states Chilean farmed salmon are the only salmon experiencing infectious salmon anemia (ISA) virus.
"The author could have easily researched the historical facts that all salmon producing countries including, Norway and Scotland have experienced the infectious salmon anemia," SOTA said. "For the article to state that only Chilean salmon farms have the anemia is incorrect and misleading."
