The price of sockeye salmon should even out as buyers reach the plateau of cost and demand this spring, industry sources told IntraFish.

Lower volumes of Alaskan sockeye have raised the price of frozen fillets to more than $7 (€5.14) per pound, from May through August, a $1 (€0.73) higher than in 2012, when prices hovered around $6 (€4.40) per pound.

Rob Reierson, CEO at Tradex, told IntraFish the high volume of Russian H&G sockeye, especially along the west coast and Canada, has brought the prices upwards of $7.50
