The hopefuls raced against the clock to open as many oysters as possible, which were then eaten by more than 100 guests.
The eventual winner was Armando Lema of Coastline La Brocca, winner of last year's event, who opened thirty oysters in 3 minutes 25 seconds, almost 19 seconds faster than Fredrik Lindfors of The Fish Shop in second place.
Third place was given to Sam Tamsanguan from Wilton’s restaurant.
Four hundred and fifty native oysters were opened (and then eaten) and over 100 guests eagerly cheered on representatives from oyster restaurants, oyster suppliers and fishmongers from all over Britain.
