Shrimp supply shortages and price volatility is giving "sleepless nights" to a UK importer and distributor of premium seafood, who voiced concerns about the species pricing itself "out of the foodservice sector."

Supply shortages are taking their toll across the supply chain, unfortunate since much effort was spent in popularizing the species in the last decade and making it a standard fare in restaurant menus, said Abbas Lalljee, commercial director at Shield Foods UK.
