Sunrise Capital, owned by Integrated Aquaculture, a company led by Global Aquaculture Alliance (GAA) head George Chamberlain, is seeking to renew its the National Pollution Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permit with the state Department of Health.
In the application, the company is proposing the farm -- which has been a near-dormant state the last few years -- will increase shrimp and fish growing activity, and will need to discharge up to 30 million gallons of wastewater effluent and treated shrimp remains into the ocean.
