Shetland Fish Products has since March 7 become wholly Shetland-owned with the current non Shetland-based share being sold to existing shareholders Lerwick Port Authority and Shetland Catch.
The development means the processing unit will become a fully integrated part of the local fishing scene, with even closer links being forged between partners.
Helge Korsager, a familiar face in the fishmeal and fish oil sector in the U.K. and internationally, has been brought back from semi-retirement as executive director.
He has already invested much time and energy in the plant in his previous employment, and is keen to help make sure that the industry in Shetland continues in a healthy and sustainable condition.
