More Copper River salmon are coming. On Saturday, the Alaska Department of Fish and Game (ADFG) announced the second 12-hour period of the season will begin May 19, at 7 a.m., and some 33,000 sockeye salmon are expected to be caught.

Preliminary harvest estimate from the firs 12-hour period that occurred on Monday, May 15 was 1,000 kings and 27,700 sockeye salmon with an estimated 510 deliveries reported. This compares to an anticipated harvest of 33,000 sockeye salmon for this period.
