Seal hunt boycott resurfaces; buyers cancel Canadian seafood orders

The boycott, sponsored by the Humane Society of the United States (HSUS), started in March 2005 and will end when the hunting of seals for sport is banned, the group says.

The newest restaurants to sign the petition join more than 1,000 restaurants and seafood businesses in the U.S. that won’t use Canadian seafood.

To join the boycott, restaurants pledge to either boycott Canadian snow crab, all seafood from eastern Canada or all seafood from the entire country until the hunt ends.
