Virginia Pivonka doesn’t get called “little lady” much anymore. Sure, she still hears dirty jokes and rough language in the male-dominated seafood industry, but over the past two decades, Pivonka, the buyer for Rockfish Grill, a U.S.-based chain of seafood restaurants, has noticed a new trend – more women in charge.
Women remain far from equal in the corporate world. Only 2.2 percent of Fortune 500 companies are run by women. But that number has inched up from 1.2 percent four years ago.
