The workshop, led by Rebecca Goldburg of Enivronmental Defense, Dawn Purchase of the Marine Conservation Society and Shauna MacKinnon of the Living Oceans Society, sought to generate a discussion on key topics to tackle in the development of organic farmed fish standards.
Though currently several private groups already certify an array of farmed fish as "organic," national standards in the United States and Canada, as well as European Union standards, are in varying stages of development, and largely controversial.
The extent of the confusion was clear in the discussion.
