The seafood industry seems to always find itself on the defensive. Day in and day out, opponents of fisheries, aquaculture or processing are churning out their criticism, and day in and day out the industry wearily rolls out their same facts and figures to answer the accusations.

And while the industry is doing a better job fending off those attacks, that effort has kept it from highlighting what I call its "secret sustainability."

I’ll take a recent example. I visited Marine Harvest’s and Cermaq’s operations near Campbell River, BC, one of the most beautiful and remote areas in North America.
