Seafood was on 7.2 percent of all Canadian restaurant menus in 2009, down from 7.4 percent of all menus in 2008, a report from the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Foreign Agricultural Services said.
French fries were the No. 1 menu item, followed by chicken, burgers and salads, the report said, citing statistics from the NPD Group for the 12-month period ended November 2009.
Of the $1.9 billion (€1.35 billion) in seafood Canada imported in 2009, the United States provided 36 percent of that total, followed by Thailand and China, each at 16 percent, said the report, released last week.
