Several new importers, among others in northern Italy, are now in the police spotlight, and Norwegian exporters probably will be called to a hearing. Several Norwegian insurance companies reportedly paid millions of kroner in compensation, and the Italian police want to know which exporters were robbed of stockfish consignments.
Just after Easter, 28 people with connections to the Naples Mafia were taken into custody, suspected of larceny, receiving stolen property, kidnapping and insurance fraud.
