The Scottish Information Commissioner ordered the Scottish government to release data on seal killings at the country's salmon farms to campaigners, and for the first time it revealed which farms have shot how many seals.

"Scottish salmon's serial seal-killers are finally named and shamed today [Aug. 30] following a three-year battle with the salmon farming industry and Scottish government," Don Staniford, anti-salmon farming activist at the Global Alliance Against Industrial Aquaculture, said.

The data revealed that more than half -- 51 percent -- of active salmon farms in Scotland killed at least one seal.
