A mix of low supply, high feed costs and a typical seasonal price bump sent prices for Norwegian and Scottish salmon soaring during the first week of 2013. 

“Since the start of the New Year, we’ve seen changes in excess of 10 percent,” Dick Martin, president of Martin International, told IntraFish, referring to Scottish salmon.  He said prices for Norwegian salmon were about 15 percent up.

"I can confirm that," Logan Kock, VP of strategic purchasing and responsible sourcing for the California-based distributor Santa Monica Seafood, told IntraFish, referring to both the Norwegian and Scottish salmon price increase levels.
