Massachusetts-based Eastern Fisheries announced today the addition of the 95-foot-long Maelstrom to its fishing vessels, bringing the total number of boats to an industry-record 24.
Eastern also invested in four other brand-new boats to replace some of the older vessels in the fleet.
“It’s always nice to add new boats to the fleet," Eastern Vice President Ronald Enoksen said. "These four new vessels, coming up from Duckworth Shipbuilders in Florida, will use a more fuel-efficient engine. The more efficiently we can run each area of our business, from harvest to distribution, the more value we pass along to our customers."
