Los Angeles-based Santa Monica Seafood has been providing up to 1,200 Walmart stores with salmon and tilapia for the past five months, Executive VP and Co-Owner Michael Cigliano told IntraFish.
Santa Monica supplies keta salmon from the Arctic Circle region for the retail giant's fresh seafood case, and also provides Walmart with Atlantic salmon and tilapia with "some light value adding," Cigliano said.
The California company is involved with the entire supply chain of the fish before it heads into between 500 to 1,200 Walmart stores, depending on the SKU, he said.
