Icelandic companies Samherji and Fisk Seafood signed a contract this week at the Nor-Fishing exhibition in Trondheim, Norway, for four new DNV class wetfish trawlers to be delivered in 2016.
Samherji is investing in three new trawlers, while one is destined for Fisk Seafood. The vessels are to be built at the Cemre yard in Turkey.
The four 61.5-meter LOA by 13.5-meter beam trawlers are designed by Icelandic naval architect Skipatækni.
Each of the identical vessels is designed to have a 900-cubic-meter fishroom and a propulsion system with a 1,620kW main engine swinging a 3,800 millimeter diameter propeller via a two-step gearbox.
