Icelandic saltfish producer FiskKaup is seeing slow demand for its products due to weakening prices and reduced sales in the principal markets of Spain and Italy, despite the market being flush with whitefish.
“We moved in here in 2009 and the place should have been a third bigger,” Asbjorn Jonsson of Reykjavik fish producer FiskKaup told IntraFish.
The company has been on the city’s quayside for decades, for many of those years in a former warehouse that was bursting under the strain, until they shifted to a new, purpose-built unit in the Grandi district.
“It
