Salmones Antartica received the certification from the company Inspectorate after a process that looked at its food safety, labor safety and environmental practices.
The certification was granted for all of the company's freshwater and seawater farms and feed plants.
“We started this process almost three years ago. We are now the only company in Chile with this certification, and I believe there is no other salmon company worldwide with so many farms certified, so it’s very important that a Chilean company has achieved this,” Paulo Palacios, technical manager, told IntraFish.
