Reduced salmon prices will provide the basis for more value-added processing of salmon in Norway, Yngve Myhre, the CEO of the Norwegian salmon producer SalMar, told IntraFish.
In an interview right before the new year, the new CEO shared his views about the salmon market for the year that has past and the year to come.
Listed on the Oslo stock exchange, SalMar is one of Norway's largest salmon producers, with revenues of NOK 3.4 billion (€439.4 million/$571.8 million) in 2010.
The company harvested 78,000 metric tons of salmon (gutted weight) in 2010, of which more than half came from its sites in central Norway.
