The most-popular sized fish were selling at NOK32-32.50 (€3.98-€4.04/$5.72-$5.81), with rises in the region of 19 percent on the previous week.
“December has been an incredible month, I have never seen anything like it,” Norwell salmon trader Per Vidar Ottesen said. “It has been a fantastically strong market.”
Ottesen, who is also optimistic about January sales said fish weighing 3-5 kilos were fetching NOK32 (€3.98/$5.72), those in the 5-6 kilos category were going for NOK 30 (€3.73/$5.36) and fish scaling more than 6 kilos sold for around NOK 28 (€3.48/$5.00).
