Salmon prices jump higher as holidays near

Farmed salmon prices increased on average by NOK 4 (€0.48/$0.65) compared with last Friday, caused by a number of factors, producers told IntraFish.

Combined with the fact the Norwegian kroner is slightly weaker this week, harvest volumes have also been going down, sources told IntraFish.

In addition, the market is getting closer to Christmas production when there is inevitably increased processing and increased demand which normally takes prices up.

As a result, prices are averaging around NOK 38 (€4.60/$6.20) – NOK 39 (€4.70/$6.40)
