There is limited competition between salmon and cod products, according to a new survey conducted in France, Sweden, Germany and the United Kingdom.
Led by Ragnar Tveteraas, professor at the Business School, University of Stavanger, the research team examined how the two species fare with European consumers in regards to taste, health, convenience, availability, and value for money.
Some of the conclusions in the survey were presented at the marine farming conference Havbruk 2012, held in Oslo last week.
About 2,000 consumers in the four countries were asked about their salmon and cod consumption -- the results were compared with chicken, pork and beef.
