The Norwegian Food Safety Authority (NFSA) sent notifications to two Norwegian salmon producers, Bremnes Seashore and Nova Sea, requiring production at sites to be halved due to long-term sealice problems. A further 10 to 15 farmers are currently being scrutinized.
“We’ve now started prioritizing who needs extra assessments," said Bjorn Rothe Knudtsen, regional director at the Norwegian Food Safety Authority in a statement. "We’ve also sent out the first notices asking companies to reduce production, which have exceeded salmon lice limits at certain farm sites over a long period of time.”
