Norwegian salmon producer Lofoten Sjoprodukter's owners said they were astonished that infectious salmon anemia (ISA) was found at their Olstind site in Moskenes, Norway -- in reaction to IntraFish reports it had neglected to report an outbreak at the site.

Talking to regional newspaper Lofotposten, Ole Vegard Mosseng said the firm's fish health service takes samples on a regular basis.

The last samples, taken by the Norwegian Veterinary Institute (NVI) 14 days before the Norwegian Food Safety Authority (NFSA) found ISA, showed cardiac problems "but not ISA," he said.

"We
