On Friday, Norway delivered the document it is building its World Trade Organization (WTO) case on to have EU antidumping measures against the Norwegian salmon industry overturned.
Norway asserts EU antidumping measures are in conflict with international trade agreements, especially the 1994 GATT agreement and its points on antidumping. Norway argues EU companies represent a minority of the union’s own fish producers. It is well known the salmon industry in the European Union is dominated by Norwegian and Dutch companies.
The European Commission must proceed according to other factors outside of the dumping margin they found when they investigated Norwegian aquaculture companies, and which was the basis for minimum import prices (MIP).
