SalMar is not the first to use TelCage, a small technology and data firm owned by Norway’s largest telecommunications company, Telenor.
TelCage does not supply equipment, but instead solutions for remote control operation and monitoring of marine farm installations.
Big rivals Leroy and Marine Harvest are on the customer list, TelCage Managing Director Rune Bjerke told IntraFish.
“Experience gained from two years of operation shows that aquaculture companies can increase profitability at each installation by several million krones annually by implementing our solutions,” said Bjerke.
