Russian Sea Catching (RSC) on Thursday announced it acquired fishing companies Sovgavanryba and Vostokribprom, making it the single largest holder of Alaska pollock quota in the country.

The deal, for $190 million (€142 million), increases RSC's total fishing quotas to 220,000 metric tons, the bulk of which -- 180,000 metric tons -- is pollock.

The acquisition gives RSC 12 percent of the 2013 total allowable catch, up from 6 percent previously, CEO Andrew Teterkin said.

He added that the company intends to pursue more fishing assets, but declined to elaborate.
