In a surprise move, Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev has approved the sale of state-owned fishing company Akhangelsk Trawl Fleet (ATF) to Wyrma, an arm of the North West Fishing Consortium (SZRK), ITAR-TASS reported.
North West Fishing Consortium narrowly outbid Russian Sea Catching with a RUB 2.2 billion (€48.9 million/$64.7 million) offer in a November auction, but the close relationship between Russian Sea Catching investor Gennady Timchenko and Russia's political elite was widely considered a decisive factor in who would ultimately win the bid.
