Intertek Moody Marine (IMM), the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) conformance assessment body for Russia's Sea of Okhotsk (SOO) pollock fishery, on Wednesday responded to the adjudicator's assessment made on June 19, which said it needed more work to reach the MSC standard for sustainable fisheries.

In its response, IMM defended its scoring guidelines on several areas such as bycatch and observer coverage on pollock vessels, and noted that the huge amounts of information in assessing the fishery made data collection -- a key area  Independent Adjudicator Michael Lodge felt was lacking in his decision -- a challenging process.
