Although France remains the largest importer of fresh salmon from Norway in volume, that market has not grown since last year -- instead almost falling by 0.4 percent.
In contrast, Norway’s exports of fresh salmon to Russia have nearly doubled in volume compared to last year, reaching 61,000 metric tons so far this year compared to 39,000 metric tons in the same period last year.
That is a growth rate of 57 percent -- by far the highest increase among Norway’s top 10 export markets, according to figures from the Norwegian Seafood Export Council.
