Russia and Norway have agreed to increase their joint quota of North East Arctic cod by 7 percent to 751,000 metric tons in 2012.
The decision was announced at the latest and ongoing meeting of the Joint Norwegian-Russian Fisheries Commission (JNRC) in Kaliningrad.
Also at the meeting, Russia and Norway agreed to increase the Northeast Arctic 2012 haddock quota by 5 percent to 318,000 metric tons, while increasing Greenland halibut quotas by 20 percent to 18,000 metric tons. It was previously reported that Russia would argue for an increase in the halibut quota.
