Royal Greenland has seen increasing sales to Asia for its Greenlandic halibut and coldwater shrimp, marking a shift from its traditional homebase of northern Europe, the company said.

Demand for its products from Asia is high, and Asian markets are currently willing to pay high prices, Royal Greenland’s CEO Mikael Thinghuus said.

This is a non-negligible factor as raw material prices for shrimp and halibut are on the rise. For Greenland halibut, prices from September 2011 to March 2012 were up by 25 percent from the same period last year, Royal Greenland said in its half year report.
