The Alaska salmon season is turning out to be less than stellar from a retail perspective this year, according to a source in the retail industry, who is seeing soft supply of fillets.

“The Bristol Bay run has been very disappointing,” the source told IntraFish. “Cook Inlet has also been disappointing.”

Prices appear to have responded accordingly, having increased markedly over last year at a major supermarket in the United States. The regular retail price for sockeye is at $12.99 (€10.56), compared to last year’s price of $9.99
