Seafish's Oversight Board agreed on the new vision for its Responsible Fishing Scheme (RFS), proposing a revised standard, after claiming the previous model had “lost its way.”
Seafish unveiled its plans to revamp the RFS at an event in central London in July, where the seafood industry trade group said it hoped to make the RFS more “fit for purpose.”
To that end, the RFS will now be based around 5 core values:
- Crew Safety, health and welfare.
- Crew Training/professional development.
- The legality of the vessel applicant.
