The number of PD outbreaks in western Norway has remained essentially static since last year, according to Paul Negaard, project manager for the Western Norway PD project.
PD has been the biggest source of headaches for Norwegian fish farmers in recent years.
In 2007 PD was confirmed at 98 farm sites in western Norway -- double the number of cases in 2005.
Negaard said it is still unclear how much lower losses will be this year, or why the problem appears to be abating.
