Fresh reports have further discredited Pacific Andes’ claims regarding the fishing abilities of its flagship mothership, Lafayette.

Contrary to what the company and Russian authorities have previously ascertained, the 228-meter long Russian-flagged vessel is “highly unlikely” to have fished or pair trawled in 2010, an inspection by Spanish fisheries authorities and a technical report by Seafish Marine Services show.

“To enable the Lafayette to operate effectively as a pair trawler would require a complete re-design and re-fit of the vessel and its propulsion machinery,” Seafish’s technical report, seen by IntraFish, said.
