France imported $714 million (€502 million) of consumer-oriented food and beverage products from the U.S. in 2008, a 7 percent increase over 2007, said the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Foreign Agricultural Service (FAS) in a new report.
Frozen food sales continue to show good potential for U.S. companies, and strong prospects exist for fish and seafood, non-alcoholic beverages and dairy products, according to the report, released last month.
France imported $11.5 billion (€8.1 billion) worth of seafood in 2008, the U.S. portion accounting for $235 million (€165 million), or about 2 percent, of the market, the report said, citing statistics from Ubi France/ FrenchCustoms.
