Authorities are taking new preventative measures to put a stop to the practice in order to protect Myanmar’s export market. Injecting fish with water -- in addition to raising their weight -- can also contaminate them with harmful bacteria, the report said.
Myanmar exported $234 million (€174 million) in the fiscal year 2006.
