The Bristol Bay commercial salmon fishery in Alaska is the world’s most valuable wild salmon fishery and in total produces an  annual value of $1.5 billion (€1.2 billion), according to a new report prepared for the Bristol Bay Regional Seafood Development Association (BBRSDA).

The report, by University of Alaska Anchorage's Gunnar Knapp, Mouhcine Guetttabi and Scott Goldsmith, said Bristol Bay salmon accounts for six percent of the total value of United States seafood exports.

"I am pleased a study has been done to detail the economic importance of the salmon industry in Bristol Bay," said longtime US Senator Patty Murray of Washington state.
