Product will immediately begin shipping with the Naturland organic seal, and the company’s existing customers will get first shot at the organic product, company President Mike Picchietti (pictured above) told IntraFish.
Production of the Naturland-certified tilapia will exceed one million pounds, Picchietti said.
“I think there’s demand for certified product and there’s demand for regular product,” he said. “The main issue is, what they saw is our regular production is not too far from the organic production.”
For instance, to gain organic certification from Naturland, Regal Springs had to show 40 kilograms per cubic meter of cage production.
