The group of Alaska seafood processors seeking to rejoin the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) salmon client group were rebuffed Tuesday in a dismissive letter from Rob Zuanich, the executive director of the Alaska Salmon Processors Association (ASPA).

On Friday, Trident Seafoods' Stefanie Moreland responded to the letter, saying the group -- which includes, in addition to Trident, Peter Pan Seafoods, Icicle Seafoods, Ocean Beauty Seafoods, North Pacific Seafoods and Canfisco-owned Alaska General Seafoods/Leader Creek Fisheries -- would press the MSC board of trustees to intervene and pressure the ASPA to share the certificate.
