Six months from now, the first containers of goods from China and Russia will be loaded on cargo ships in Narvik for transport to other destinations, marking an important milestone in the ambitious railway project.
The Narvik end of what's been dubbed "The New Corridor Project" was given the thumbs-up lasty week by the Chinese Minister of Railways.
In Beijing 's magnificent Great Hall of the People by the Gate of Heavenly Peace -- aka Tiananmem Square -- Norwegian Fisheries Minister Svein Ludvigsen and executives from development firm Futurum, which launched the project in 1997, met with Chinese officials to celebrate the venture's success.
